The Human Resources Generalist plays an integral role within the organization to realize our cultural goals by providing knowledgeable, caring, and professional customer service to VGS's 140
employees.
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for administering the daily human resource functions.
They apply their broad spectrum of HR experience to deliver value to the organization.
They serve as a champion for culture, demonstrate integrity, and seek opportunities for continual improvement.
WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION? Recruiting & Onboarding:
Organizes and facilitates recruitment process to attract exceptional, diverse candidates and ensure a positive candidate experience.
Assist with the promotion of career opportunities including branding VGS as a premier employer.
Facilitates the interview and selection process with hiring managers and serves as a subject matter expert.
Ensures a fair, equitable process and a positive candidate experience.
Coordinates the candidate offer process and negotiations.
Administer background checks and schedule drug tests.
Monitors and tracks hiring and applicant data to report out to stakeholders as necessary.
Assists with coordinating temporary and summer staffing needs with outside staffing firms.
Crafts new employee announcements.
Coordinate employee onboarding process and continuously seek ways to improve upon the employee onboarding experience.
HRIS:
Serve as a subject matter expert with the HRIS.
Coordinate with vendor representatives to improve work processes and create efficiencies.
Maintain and update the Self-Serve section of the HRIS system to ensure that employees have easy access to important information.
Process employment information, salary changes, benefit updates, and other data changes in the HRIS accurately.
Partner with accounting as needed to ensure changes are processed appropriately.
Report regularly on HR metrics.
Benefit Administration:
Assist with administering VGS's comprehensive benefits program including, but not limited to, processing employee enrollments and/or changes, reconciling benefit related invoices with enrollments, troubleshoot employee benefit issues, and answers general benefit questions.
Assists with annual benefit open enrollment.
Coordinates in-house COBRA program as well as AARP.
Works with employees that request Family Medical Leave (FMLA).
Coordinates payroll information, modified work and/or schedules, and ensures all documentation meets plan requirements.
Processes workers' compensation claims.
Assists with ensuring all benefit plan documents are up to date and communicates plan documents with employees as required.
Assists with annual benefit audits and reporting.
Compliance:
Ensure that VGS meets its legal obligations by staying abreast of applicable state and federal laws.
Assist with the process of defining policies and procedures to ensure employment and work practices comply with applicable laws.
Assist with completing compliance reporting such as ACA, EEO-1, affirmative action, etc.
Maintain and file employee records in accordance with state and federal laws.
HR Administration and Leadership:
Serve as a champion for VGS culture through various company initiatives.
Support the facilitation of employee engagement and satisfaction surveys and assists with follow up action planning.
Assist with initiatives defined in the annual corporate plan that move VGS's cultural goals forward.
Participate in employee resource groups such as DEI, Wellness and others.
Assist with planning and executing various company events including VGS's quarterly employee meeting.
Keeps SharePoint HR-Hub updated.
Support VGS's formal recognition programs and suggest enhancements that increase employee retention.
Assist with employee offboarding process.
WHAT ARE THE REQUIRED SKILLS FOR THIS ROLE? Solid knowledge of human resources practices, procedures, and employment related laws.
Able to keep abreast of changes within the HR field including compliance and regulation changes.
Experience working with HRIS and applicant tracking systems.
Proficient with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Strong interpersonal skills to be effective at building connections and partnerships with employees throughout the organization.
Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing.
They should be successful with delivering presentations and communicating information to a diverse audience.
Able to see and respect different points of view and balance poise with a solutions-focused, results-oriented mindset.
Serve as a trusted advisor.
Must be able to speak to their experience with building relationships with people and demonstrating a high level of integrity.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
